It just so happens that My Space has become Your space, their space, his space and her space. When did we decide to open our lives up to everyone? Better yet when did we decide that it was ok? Most of the time it seems that we fear to be so open & transparent with the people that really matter most. That is not what I'm talking about here but just a point to ponder on.
Has the mighty myspace sucked your time dry? If so... you're normal (maybe normal is too strong of a word for you haha). Do you get a warm feeling when you receive a message alert? Not the warm feeling of when you pee in the swimming pool... but that “Somebody Cares About Me” feeling. Why do you feel like they care? Oh yes of course, because they took the time to write you a note. In the same sense God feels all warm & fuzzy inside when you take the time to sit down and talk (aka pray) to him.
Lets have some fun and compare God to Myspace...
-How many blog entries have you read this week?
-How much of your bible have you read this week? Don't worry, I wont be throwing any rocks at you... I'm guilty too.
-How much do you log into the site to check your messages and comments and picture comments OH GOODY!
-Have you ever realized that God is just as excited to get a Prayer or Comment from us?! He is checking on you 24/7 – 365 days a year just waiting for you to want to talk with him or even just for you to listen to what He has to say to you.
I've seen so many people post things on their profiles that they would never share with their pastor, family or even dream of God seeing. Even an idiot knows God is omnipotent (all seeing)!
I'm not saying myspace is bad, I personally love the site (not the banner ads) but in comparing your time spent with MySpace.com and time spent with MyGod.luv I bet you'll find an imbalance that needs to be corrected. So what are we going to do about this? Seems like we need a plan but more so action to carry out that plan.
Choose a Challenge: WEEK 1: See what your life is like without myspace.com for a week. - Don't log into myspace for 1 week (That translates into 7 nights of american idol re-runs) - Disable the option to receive emails when you get comments and new message - Don't go to anyone else's myspace page either
WEEK 2: Hey you've made it back onto myspace... now prioritize. - Whenever you go to that login page pause and just talk to God for 30 seconds - For every blog entry that you read.. read 1 chapter in your bible.
WEEK 3: You're done! Now look back and see if this has improved your REAL life and relationship with God. - Ask yourself how Week 1 affected your Life and Relationship with God in a positive & a negative way. - Ask yourself how Week 2 affected your Life and Relationship with God in a positive & a negative way.
